Young Musicians Sought to Battle It Out at Playland

PlaylandDragon(Rye, NY) — If you and your band have always longed to be on stage before a live audience, send a sample of your best music and your group may win a spot to perform live at the Music Tower Theater during Playland’s ninth annual Battle of the Bands at the park in Rye. Music samples must be received by Wednesday, June 27.

To be eligible, all members of the group must be amateur musicians between the ages of 15 and 20. Samples can be either original compositions or the band’s unique interpretations of the music of other artists. All submissions will be reviewed for eligibility by a panel of judges.

Submissions will be accepted on-line, by mail or hand delivered.

Music samples may be uploaded with band information at RyePlayland.org. Acceptable file formats are mp3, mp4 and wav (no videos); 5 Mb maximum per song.

Mailed or hand delivered samples must include a separate sheet of paper with the band’s name; members’ names, addresses and ages; the name of the song or songs played on the CD; and daytime and evening telephone numbers of the member who will act as the contact person. Mail or drop off music samples to Westchester County Parks, 450 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley, NY 10502, attention Battle of the Bands. Allow sufficient time for mailing.

The bands selected will perform at the Battle of the Bands at Playland on Friday, July 20. Rain date is Friday, July 27. The overall winner of the competition will win a grand prize.
