NEW ROCHELLE, NY — For more than thirty years, Deborah Little has been dedicated to the nursing profession. She has held positions in nursing education, management, and as an advanced practice nurse. It’s that broad background in the profession and her warm personality that make her most attractive to Monroe College as the newly-appointed Chair of the School of Nursing.
“Deborah’s understanding of the vital practical components of what it takes to be a critical care nurse and also how to teach that and communicate it to students makes her a perfect fit for our highly-successful nursing program,” said Dean of Academics Jeff Wallis. “Combine that experience with her compassion and enthusiastic support for students and you have a total professional who will be able to build on what is already an excellent nursing program.”
Monroe practical student nurses have passed the PN-NCLEX exams at the extraordinary rate of 98% in 2011.
Ten years ago, Ms. Little began teaching at Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing in Montclair, and became Assistant Dean of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Jersey City in 2011. She started her career by attending the St. Francis School of Nursing in Jersey City, NJ and soon after began working as a critical care nurse. She obtained a BSN degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ and a MSN degree from Columbia University, with a major in Acute Care Clinical Specialist and minor in Education. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) by the National League for Nursing.
