Libraries Offer Fun Learning Experiences: Free Summer Programs For Infants, Toddlers, And Pre-Schoolers

Free summer library programs for children ages six months to 5 years are being offered at the main New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library (HCL) beginning Monday, July 2 through Friday August 10. All programs are on a drop-in basis, on a first-come, first-served basis, except the Bedtime Stories at HCL. The six-week programs are as follows:

Bouncing Babies, is a Mother Goose program of songs, music, movement and a story for children 6 – 24 months, on Thursdays, July 5 – August 9, from 9:30 am – 10:00 am, at the Main Library; and from 11:45 am – 12:15 pm at HCL.

Let’s Pretend, for children ages 3 – 5 years, introduces theater through games, songs, nursery rhymes, and an on-stage experience, with Nora Maher, will be held on Thursdays, July 5 – August 9, from 10:15 am – 11:00 am, at the Main Library; and from 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm at HCL.

3, 4 & 5s for children ages 3 – 5 years, includes stories, songs, and a take-home craft, and takes place on Tuesdays, July 3 – August 7, from 10:00 – 10:45 am at the main library. Five sessions will be held at HCL, on Mondays, July 2 – August 6, from 10:15 – 11:00 am.

Bedtime Stories, for children ages 3 – 5 years, (pajamas and stuffed animals are encouraged), will be held on six Mondays, July 2 – August 6, from 6:30 – 7:00 pm, at the Main Library.
Music with Mandy, for children ages 2 – 5 years, will take place in the Alphabet Garden at the Main Library, where the talented Mandy Jensen will engage and delight children and their parents/caregiver with her interactive songs and movements, on Fridays, July 6 – August 3, from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon

Every Wednesday, at 10:30 am, a Live Show alternating with Films from Picture Books will be featured in the Ossie Davis Theater. The first performance, with Robert the Guitar Guy, will take place on Wednesday, July 11. These are appropriate for children 2 – 5 years.

These free programs, with capacity on a first-come, first-served basis, are made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library and the Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library.
