Vincent “Vinnie Limo” Zarcone, 45, of 70 Neptune Avenue in New Rochelle, NY was arrested by New Rochelle police after a domestic dispute turned into a siege situation at Zarcone’s residence. Family members living at the house say that Zarcone began smashing items in the house including his wife’s cell phone.
A family member who declined to be identified stated that Zarcone’s wife had a restraining order against Zarcone.
The siege incident day began sometime around 1:30 p.m. New Rochelle Police Department set up a perimeter, blocking off Neptune Avenue at the intersection of Pelham Road and other other end of Neptune Avenue towards Elm Street.
Family members told New Rochelle police detectives that Zarcone entered the house at 70 Neptune Avenue and began breaking items in the home including a cellular phone.
New Rochelle Police Commissioner Patrick J. Carroll came to the scene, remaining until after Zarcone was taken away in a police cruiser.
Neighbors tell Talk of the Sound that the house has been responded at least twice in the past year including as recently as last week. One neighbor said that members of the “Hell’s Angels” motorcycle gang came to collect money they claimed they were owed by Zarcone.
Vincent “Vinnie Limo” Zarcone is well known to Talk of the Sound readers for a 2009 Meat Cleaver attack in which Zarcone’s hand was nearly severed at the wrist by Christopher Calise and Maurice Mann
According to the Westchester County District Attorney on June 7th, 2009, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Calise and an accomplice, Maurice Mann, went to the Sound Shore Fishing Club on Union Avenue in New Rochelle and asked the victim to come outside to speak with them.
Once outside, Calise demanded money from the victim, who denied owing Calise any money.
Mann grabbed the victim by the waist and threw him to the ground and held him down by the neck and choked him. During this time, Calise was screaming to the victim to give him his arm because Calise wanted to cut it.
Calise removed a meat cleaver from his waist and started hitting the victim on the head. He hit the victim several times on the head and then several times on both ankles with the meat clever. Mann pulled the victim’s right arm out and held it out while Calise hit the victim on the right wrist several times with the meat cleaver.
After the assault, Calise and Mann returned to their car where Calise dropped the meat clever on the street.
Mann then picked up the meat clever, opened the door of the vehicle and then placed the meat clever in a plastic coffee can in the rear of the vehicle.
Arriving police were directed by a large crowd to follow a black SUV. Police gave chase and stopped it nearby. When Calise and Mann were removed from their vehicle, police noticed that they were covered with large amounts of blood on their hands, arms and clothing.
Additionally, police recovered a red plastic coffee can containing a bloody meat clever from the floor of the back of the vehicle behind the passenger seat.
In 2005, Zarcone pled guilty to promotion of gambling-1st and was sentenced to five years’ probation. The plea deal came following Zarcone’s arrest related to a $12 million sports betting ring that operated in Westchester, the Bronx and Nassau County. That case led to 11 convictions in 2005.
