New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, selected as a delegate from the state of New York to the 2012 Democratic National Convention has arrived in Charlotte, NC and will be updating residents on his experience. From his initial post, it sounds like he has not exactly gotten swept up in the excitement or his role in the convention.

“…as a delegate, my function is to serve as a prop in a television production.”

He did manage to work in a reference to sustainability and green (several times).

“I am continuously struck by the tension between the insubstantiality of the event itself and the importance of the larger process it serves.”

Noam is able to get through all the security using his ID Card issues by the DNC so he can get inside the arena and vote to support candidates opposed to require people to show ID Cards to get inside polling places and vote for candidates they support.

“…it still feels strange that a ritual of democracy is held in an atmosphere of authoritarian lockdown.”

Noam is looking forwarding to seeing Obama in a “much larger” venue.

“It’s smaller and more intimate than I had expected. On Thursday, when the President speaks, we’ll move to the much larger Bank of America stadium.”

Looks like Noam is going to be disappointed. Due to a lack of interest, Obama’s speech will be moved from the stadium back to the same arena.

Democrats set to move Obama’s big speech from 74,000-seater outdoor stadium to 20,000-seater indoor arena

  1. Mayor’s Night at the DNC
It was a night headlined by Mayors at the DNC in Charlotte. We were warmed up by Cory Booker. Mayor of the very troubled City of Newark. Followed by Democrat up and comer Julian Castro, Mayor of San Antonio, a Stanford alumnus with a J.D. from Harvard. But something was amiss !! Where was the superstar from the centrally planned metropolis of New Rochelle ? Relegated to the status of a mere extra, the country was deprived of hearing fictional economic terms like “net benefit”. We could not hear about the brilliant strategy of “transit oriented smart growth” or the wonders of his signature achievement, GreenNR !! It would seems his star has faded. Redistricted out of a potential Congressional or State Senate seat it seems the boy wonder is in need of an extreme makeover. TOTS readers; what suggestions do you have for the Mayor to jump-start his political career ?

  2. ID’s
    Great line about the ID’s!

Due to ‘the weather’ they’ll be no outdoor stadium rally? Or the embarassment of no shows/ empty seats?…

Where is Nita’s purse. He is supposed to open it when ever that Pig needs her lipstick.
