NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The day long dreaded by Yankee fans is expected to come tomorrow, according to a report in The New York Post.

Mariano Rivera, 43, has scheduled a press conference for 10 a.m. on Saturday at Steinbrenner Field.

Rivera, who has not pitched in a live game since he tore his ACL in Kansas City last May, is scheduled to pitch in this first game since the injury later that afternoon against the Atlanta Braves.

Rivera is the all-time saves leader with 608. While great during the regular season, Rivera has been close to perfect in post-season play with 42 saves and 0.70 E.R.A. over 141 innings in 96 games, which is equivalent to more than an entire season of pitching just in the play-offs and World Series.

Rivera has been a key factor, many would say the key factor in five World Series Championships with the New York Yankees.
