New Rochelle Judge Preston Scher to Receive Yitzhak Rabin Peacemaker Award

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Judge Preston S. Scher, former chief City Court Judge of New Rochelle, will be awarded the Yitzhak Rabin Peacemaker Award by the Coalition for Mutual Respect on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at New Rochelle City Hall.

Judge Scher, a past president of Temple Israel of New Rochelle and an organizer of the “Drug Court” has long been active in the Coalition for Mutual Respect and the New Rochelle Community.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in the New Rochelle City Hall Chambers, 515 North Avenue at 6:00 p.m., preceded by a reception at 5:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Judge Scher follows a list of eminent recipients given the award named in honor of the former Israeli Prime Minister, a winner of the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize, since its inception in 1997.
