DSC 0716 X2NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Police Department, the New Rochelle Fire Department, EMS and Safeway Towing worked with the New Rochelle chapter of SADD to create a realistic crash scene and the response of first responders at New Rochelle High School in May.

The simulated crash scene was set up as a head on collision caused by a drunk driver who was driving the wrong way on Clove Road. The alleged drunk driver was field tested and “arrested”.

There was one “fatality” and several injuries portrayed in the simulation which included the NRFD needing to use the “Jaws of Life” and actually removing the roof of the car to reach the “victims”.

The event was an effort to raise student awareness on the dangers of driving under the influence.
