Thomas H. Healey Obituary, Longtime Holy Family Parishioner, Played Under Vince Lombardi at Fordham University

Thomas H. Healey, 83, of Randolph, New Jersey, a former resident of New Rochelle, New York, where he was a parishioner at the Church of the Holy Family for 43 years, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2013. Mr. Healey was born in New York City on May 31, 1930.

The son of Louis A. and Irene Rohrs Healey, Mr. Healey was raised in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, where he attended the Sacred Heart Parochial School before attending Regis High School and Mount Saint Michael Academy. He graduated from Fordham University in 1952, where he earned varsity letters in football playing under legendary coach Vince Lombardi. On November 29, 1952 he married the former Anne Marie Callahan, who passed away on November 6, 2012. Upon his honorable discharge as lieutenant in the Marine Corps he entered Fordham University School of Law and upon graduation commenced a successful career as an admiralty trial attorney. Mr. Healey was a lifelong voracious reader with great intellectual curiosity who loved to teach and quiz his children and grandchildren. He was a gourmet cook who loved to prepare meals for his family, and a gifted athlete who spent countless hours playing ball with his children and extended family.

Thomas is survived by five loving sons, Thomas, John Mark, Stephen, Matthew and Christopher, five loving daughters, Anne Baldi, Eleanor, Mary Calamia, Catherine Gale and Kirsten Healey Strong, nine grandsons, twelve granddaughters, a great-granddaughter and great-grandson. Mr. Healey was predeceased by his infant son, Paul Francis (1963), and his grandson, Timothy Daniel Healey (1990-1998). Dr. Louis A. Healey of Seattle, Henry R. Healey, of Birmingham, Michigan, and Mary Livezey of West Redding, Connecticut, his brothers and sister, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, survive him.

Mr. Healey was an active parishioner and daily communicant at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish, 335 Dover Chester Road, Randolph, NJ (973-584-1101). The family will receive friends at St. Matthew the Apostle at 9:30AM on Tuesday, December 3rd followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Internment will be private.\
