Person with Gunshot Wounds Pulls up To New Rochelle ER

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A person pulled up to the Emergency Room Entrance of Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle just before midnight with multiple gunshot holes in there windshield the person inside the car was hit by several shots.

A New Rochelle police officer was outside the ER when the car pulled up and was able to get some information from the victim. The victim said the shooting happened by the Hutch area in Pelham near a Dunkin’ Doughnuts store. Pelham police were getting calls about possible shots fired near the Glenwood avenue area near the New Rochelle Pelham border. Police from both areas responded and stopped a car by Lincoln and Glenwood with a possible suspect inside.

The New York Police Department has confirmed that Brendan Cronin, 27, an off-duty NYPD officer from Yonkers, NY will be charged with felony assault and DWI.

N.J. Burkett of Eyewitness News reports:

A NYPD official says 27-year-old Brendan Cronin of Yonkers was at a bar on City Island in the Bronx. Cronin finished his work at 6 p.m. Tuesday night, and was likely drinking with other officers for some time.

For an unknown reason, Cronin pulled over on the side of the road in Pelham. Internal Affairs has no idea why he pulled over. He then suddenly opened fire on a passing car.

The victim, a 47-year-old New Rochelle was a passenger in the vehicle. He was struck six times, and was driven to Montefiore Medical Center in New Rochelle.

It is unknown if this person is a suspect.

New Rochelle police along with Pelham Police and Westchester County police closed Lincoln Avenue from the Hutchison River Parkway to Lincoln Avenue and Glenwood Avenue in New Rochelle to look for evidence in the shooting. Cronin’s 9mm glock service weapon and 13 spent casings were recovered at the scene.
