Fire Guts Home in New Rochelle, Family Left Homeless, Dog Rescused

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Fire Fighters battled a structure fire for more than two hours this afternoon.

The house, located at 12 The Boulevard in New Rochelle, was gutted on the second and third floors. The owner told Talk of the Sound that he was out of the house but having work done on the roof. He said his daughter was home but escaped on her own. The family dog was trapped inside but found after two houros by firefighters hiding under a bed.

Two firefighters were treated at the scene for heat-related exhaustion.

The Journal News is reporting the house was in foreclosure.
