The City School District of New Rochelle has retroactively issued a press statement, dated July 24, 2014, to confirm a previous report that John Quinn was fired by the New Rochelle Board of Education.

 Quinn’s contract expired on June 30, 2014.

As is standard practice, the District is seeking to portray Quinn’s first as a “retirement”.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle – John B. Quinn, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Administration, today announced his retirement from the City School District of New Rochelle, effective October 31, 2014.

“It has been my pleasure and pride to work in New Rochelle,” said Mr. Quinn. “I wish the students of New Rochelle every educational success.”

“We thank Mr. Quinn for his service to the children and taxpayers of New Rochelle,” said Superintendent of Schools Brian G. Osborne. “Mr. Quinn served as the district business official for the past seven years, through a difficult economic recession and the imposition of new limits on revenues. Under his direction, the district budget continued to fund excellent instruction and support for students during this challenging time.”

“Mr. Quinn’s contributions to the City School District of New Rochelle are appreciated,” stated Board of Education President Lianne Merchant. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
District officials are immediately advertising the position of Assistant Superintendent for Business and Administration and expect to have a competitive process to identify the best candidate this fall.

“New Rochelle is a vibrant school community and this is an attractive opportunity to help lead a district on the move,” said Osborne. “We anticipate strong interest in the position from dedicated and experienced professionals.”
