The Third Annual WFAN All-Stars Celebrity Softball Game came to New Rochelle on Wednesday, August 13 at the Flowers (City) Park athletic complex, pitting former New Rochelle resident and high school alum Craig Carton of the “Boomer and Carton” morning radio sports talk show and his superstar lineup against a City team coached by College of New Rochelle Athletic Director Harold Crocker.
WFAN All Star players included Cecil Fielder, Jim Leyritz, John Franco, Willie Randolph, Mike Tannenbaum, John Halama, Frank Catalanatto, Joe Tacopina and Constantine Maroulis.
The New Rochelle City Celebrities team lineup included Councilmember Barry Fertel, City Manager Chuck Strome and City staff including Commissioner Bill Zimmermann/Parks & Recreation, Commissioner Alex Tergis and Kema Jones/Public Works, P.O. Matthew Glass/NRPD, Jeremy Schulman and Tom Pfister/Development, John Caldararo and Joe Guglielmo/Buildings, Sandi Nunez/Purchasing, Kathy Gilwit/Communications; and Bob Marrone/Chamber of Commerce; Matt Glovaski and Brian Beyrer, Assistant Athletic Directors and Jill Gray, Head Softball Coach/Iona College; Joel Fridovich and Lionel Oliver of the Youth Bureau Board of Commissioners; Robert Kasara/Wykagyl Country Club, David Murphy/ConEd, Charlie Gieserich/Monroe College, Carlos Munoz/Morgan Stanley, Joe Matta/Sound Associates, and Tony Nesci/Rainbow Embroidery.
