New Rochelle Board of Education Will Vote Tuesday to Suppress Speech, Crush Dissent

Written By: Robert Cox

On Tuesday evening, September 2nd, the New Rochelle Board of Education will suspend their own rules to pass a resolution without further discussion that will effectively gut the tradition of a public comment period at school board meetings.

The vote is a done deal — even Jeffrey Hastie has not uttered even a whisper of opposition to the resolution.

There are a few extra speakers signed up to speak tomorrow night but the powers-that-be on the board have already anticipated a negative reaction from regular speakers at board meetings and have prepared themselves to weather whatever storm blows.

If you want to know what I think about the resolution you can watch the video or read this article: New Rochelle Board of Education Declares War on Free Speech – Bans Criticism of Board Members, Grants “Right to Interrupt” to Board Members

I do not intend to spend time on that subject.

My focus will be on doing what I said — dropping every story, every document, I have so that the people of New Rochelle will know the truth about the full width and breadth of the corruption in the District. I have a lot of documents and a lot of stories.

The first focus will be on the false claim by Dr. Brian Osborne that Assistant Superintendent for Business & Administration John Quinn was NOT fired.

John Quinn was most definitely fired. I was content to let it go at that but if the District wants to flat out lie about the terms on which Quinn was informed his services would no longer be required that I am more than willing to oblige by laying out the case, one story at a time, for as long as it takes.

You will also see that I raised the issue of Lacher not sitting at the end of the dais as has been tradition on the board for as long as anyone can remember.

The board is now taking the extraordinary step of creating a seniority-based seating arrangements so that David Lacher can remain in the same seat.

Disgraced New Rochelle Board President David Lacher, Refuses to Sit in the Corner Where He Belongs (with video)

Seating Resolution

By my count, that will result in seating as follows

Dr. Pam Davis
Valerie Orellana
Chrisanne Petrone
Rachel Relkin
Dr. Brian Osborne
Lianne Merchant
David Lacher
Jeffrey Hastie
Naomi Brickell
Dr. Salvatore Fernandez

As a guess, Orellana wants to sit closer to Lacher and there is a proviso in the rule that a board member can take a lower ranking seat with the consent of the Board President. So, I expect that Naomi Brickell will acquiesce to Valerie Orellana and switch seats. That would look like this…

Dr. Pam Davis
Naomi Brickell
Chrisanne Petrone
Rachel Relkin
Dr. Brian Osborne
Lianne Merchant
David Lacher
Jeffrey Hastie
Valerie Orellana
Dr. Salvatore Fernandez

Nothing surprises me with this crew but this is my best guess.

  1. Robert: You continue to be an unreasonable man!
This is what George Bernard Shaw said about the unreasonable man:

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
