NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The League of Women Voters of New Rochelle will sponsor a Candidates Forum on Monday, October 27 at 7 pm in the New Rochelle City Council Chambers at City Hall, 515 North Avenue (enter from parking lot in rear). Candidates for contested state senate seats will debate, and incumbent candidates for the state assembly, running unopposed, are invited to give short statements. Congressman Eliot Engel, the incumbent running unopposed for re-election was invited to give a statement also.
Written questions for candidates in the contested seats will be accepted from the audience starting at 6:30 p.m. Each question must be signed by a local resident. The forum will be moderated by a League moderator who does not live in the district.
The forum will be replayed on government channels Cablevision 75 and Verizon 28 starting the Friday before the election.
The Senate races include District 37 incumbent George Latimer (D,WF) versus Joseph Dillon (R,C,IN); District 35 incumbentAndrea Stewart-Cousins (D, WF,IN) versus Robert Lopez Foti (R); and District 34 incumbent Jeffrey R. Klein (D), Aleksander Mici (R), Frank DellaValle (C) and Carl Lundgren (Green).
Assembly incumbents running unopposed are Assembly District 88 Amy Paulin (D,WF) and Assembly District 91 Steven Otis (D,WF,IN).
