HVIAC Names Fabiola Padilla Rios Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the Fifth Time

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – For the fifth time this season, the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) has named The College of New Rochelle’s Fabiola Padilla Rios (San Juan, PR/University Gardens) its Volleyball Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

Padilla Rios helped the Blue Angels to a perfect 3-0 week, with all three wins conference wins and all three coming in straight sets. The College of New Rochelle clinched the HVIAC Regular Season Championship Saturday with wins over Pratt Institute and Culinary Institute of America. In the process the Blue Angels became the first HVIAC team since 2007 to win all their conference matches in straight sets. The outside hitter led the team with 36 digs, adding 24 kills and nine aces on the week. She slammed home eight kills while hitting .636 against Yeshiva University, tallied a double-double with a match-high 14 kills and 15 digs against Pratt and dug up a team-high 15 balls against Culinary.

The College of New Rochelle returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Keystone College for a non-conference match scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
