The College of New Rochelle’s Meghan King Named HVIAC and AD3I Volleyball Player of the Week

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The College of New Rochelle senior outside hitter Meghan King (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) has been named Volleyball Player of the Week by both the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) and the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I), it was released Tuesday by the respective conference offices.

King was instrumental in leading the Blue Angels to a perfect 3-0 week, with all three wins conference wins and all three coming in straight sets. The College of New Rochelle clinched the HVIAC Regular Season Championship Saturday with wins over Pratt Institute and Culinary Institute of America. In the process the Blue Angels became the first HVIAC team since 2007 to win all their conference matches in straight sets. On the week, King led CNR with 29 kills, hitting .268 in the process. She added 12 digs, eight aces and four total blocks as the Blue Angels improved to 17-4 on the season having won 17 of their last 18. She tallied match-highs with seven aces and 10 kills while hitting .455 against Yeshiva University and slammed home 11 kills against Pratt.

This is the first weekly award for King this season. She was named All-Conference by both organizations in 2013.

The College of New Rochelle returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Keystone College for a non-conference match scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
