NEW ROCHELLE, NY — For the third time this season, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has selected The College of New Rochelle’s Fabiola Padilla Rios (San Juan, PR/University Gardens) as its Corvias ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Volleyball Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Padilla Rios hit a dominating .548 last week in helping The College of New Rochelle to a 2-0 week, as the Blue Angels reached the 20 win mark for the second straight season. The rookie slammed home 21 kills (3.5/set) while committing just four errors. She also served up a team-high seven aces and was second on the team in digs. She hit .600 in a road win over Purchase College, before tallying a match-high 14 kills in the win over York (NY) College, adding seven digs and six aces. Her .524 hitting night against the Cardinals matched the program record for a single match (minimum 12 kills).
The Blue Angels will play their final regular season home match tonight, hosting Albertus Magnus College. Prior to the start of the match, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM, the five CNR seniors will be recognized.
