Friends of Westchester County Sponsors First-Ever Westchester’s Winter Wonderland

WESTCHESTER, NY — This holiday season more than 2.5 million LED lights will transform the iconic Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla into a festive wonderland for families and friends to celebrate the spirit of the season. The first-ever Westchester’s Winter Wonderland will combine the best of New York City’s Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park with the largest light show in the Hudson Valley.

Presented by Westchester Medical Center, the program will open the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 29. Winter Wonderland will be open Wednesdays through Sundays until December 14. Beginning Wednesday, December 17 through Sunday, January 4th the program runs continuously from 4 to 10 p.m. weekdays and Sundays, and 4 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

County Parks Commissioner Kathleen O’Connor said, “Kensico Dam Plaza is synonymous with special celebrations that bring the community together. Westchester’s Winter Wonderland brings a new and exciting activity to families and kids of all ages.”

Winter Wonderland will electrify the holiday season with more than 2.5 million LED lights set to a one-hour long continuous show choreographed to holiday music; a fabulous outdoor recreational ice skating rink (skating and skate rentals are an additional cost); boutique vendors; The Santa Experience; sleigh-rides; the Himalaya ride; and a heated indoor food court offering a variety of dining options, wine and beer.

In addition, Winter Wonderland will feature special attractions and activities throughout the event such as a snowman building contest, ice sculpture contest, carolers and an ugly sweater contest. During Winter Wonderland there will be a giant bonfire event as well. Specific dates and times to be announced at a later date.
