Benjamin Meza, New Rochelle restauranteur, Killed in Florida Traffic Collision

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Benjamin Meza, 47, owner of two popular Mexican restaurants in New Rochelle was killed early Saturday morning while crossing a road in Orlando, Florida.
 
 According to a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol, Meza was struck by a car as he and another man, not identified, crossed John Young Parkway near National Parks Drive.
 
 Meza owned La Herradura at 563 Main Street in downtown New Rochelle and La Herradura II at 1323 North Avenue in the Wkyagyl section of New Rochelle.
 
 Sgt. Kim Montes, an FHP spokeswoman, said that at around 12:16 a.m. the two men walked into an oncoming 2009 Ford Focus driven by Giampaolo Ramirez, 19, of Orlando, Florida.
 
 Both men were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where Meza was pronounced dead. The other man was listed in critical condition.
 
 The collision is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
 
 There will be visiting hours for Meza on Thursday at Lloyd Maxcy Funeral Home from 12-2 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. There will be a Mass on Friday at 10 a.m. At St. Gabriel’s Church in New Rochelle and a Cremation at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
