NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle swim team dropped its home opener Wednesday night to Queens College. The Blue Angels fought hard against the Division II Knights but fell 114-71.
The highlight of the meet came in the fourth event when Zuri Mena placed second in the 50 Free with a time of 28.66, breaking the school record of 30.28 previously held by Tina Thomas. Mena also swam in the 200 Free Relay with teammates Claudia Benitez, Barrett Pritchard and Ilsy Rodriguez finishing just three second behind the Knights.
Rodriguez placed third in the 100 Breast finishing in 1:26.97. Pritchard also placed third in the 100 Free with a time of 1:15.36, falling just shy of Queens’ Katie Wozniak in second place.
The Blue Angels will stay at home this Friday October 8 for a meet against St. Joseph’s-Long Island. Start time is set for 2:00pm.
