NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The road was flooded with oil and diesel. A concrete wall had been impacted forcefully enough to expose the rebar buried within. These are some of the conditions New Rochelle Firefighters were faced with Thursday morning after a tractor trailer jackknifed on I-95.
Luckily, in spite of the gruesome-looking damage to the truck, the firefighters were able to quickly help the driver from the vehicle and control the massive fluid spill.
Engine 24, Engine 21, Ladder 12, Rescue 4, Car 2302, and 30A1 all participated in the successful operation.
This is the most recent in a string of similarly serious accidents to which New Rochelle Firefighters have been called, some involving many vehicles and large stretches of roadway.
