EDISON, NJ – Iona College men’s soccer senior forward Ignacio Maganto was recognized as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Maganto tallied three points on a goal and assist in Iona’s 3-1 win over Manhattan. Maganto scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 45th minute when he connected on a side scissor kick goal off a feed from sophomore Teddy Forson. Maganto then set up the third Iona goal in the 48th minute, when his corner kick resulted in a header goal by sophomore Jordan Scarlett.
The Gaels, the number two seed in the 2014 MAAC Championship, takes on fourth seeded Monmouth Friday morning in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for 10:00 am.
