NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle basketball team will play its 2014-15 home opener this Friday, November 21 in the CNR Wellness Center at 7:00 PM. Last season, CNR captured its first HVIAC Tournament Championship by playing some of the program’s most memorable games in years. In the final four games of the season, the team produced the #9 moment, the #4 moment, and the #1 moment from this summer’s 2013-14 countdown.
Several graduated members of the 2014 HVIAC Tournament Championship winning team are expected to be in attendance to help reveal the championship banner which will be proudly displayed in the Wellness Center Gym.
The non-perishable food items will benefit Hope Soup Kitchen and Pantry in New Rochelle. Each individual that donates an item to this worthy organization will receive a raffle ticket and be eligible to win some great prizes!
The Blue Angels will take on the College of Mt. St. Vincent Dolphins in a non-conference game to kick off their home schedule as the team looks to improve upon last year’s 16-9 record. The two teams have been separated by just six total points in their last two meetings, with both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 meetings coming down to the final minutes, if not seconds.
The Blue Angels are off to a quick start to this season, entering Friday’s contest with a 2-0 record after successfully defending their Women’s College Tip-Off Tournament Championship this past weekend at Notre Dame of Maryland University. CNR defeated Cedar Crest College in its season opener, then defeated the host Gators in the championship game. Jah-Leah Ellis was named Tournament MVP and was selected as the HVIAC Player of the Week for her efforts.
