Hannah Cambel Named HVIAC Basketball Rookie of the Week

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) has named The College of New Rochelle rookie guard Hannah Cambel its Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

Cambel poured in a team-high 19 points in the Blue Angels game against College Mt. St. Vincent, including four trifectas. The HVIAC leader in three pointers, the rookie guard shot nearly 50% from the field (7-15) and from beyond the arc (4-9) while playing a game-high 37 minutes. She led all scorers at the half with 11 points to help keep CNR in the game as the Blue Angels’ top-two scorers combined for just 13 minutes due to foul trouble.

Next up for the Blue Angels is the Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament, hosted by Medgar Evers College. CNR (3-1, 1-0 HVIAC), the defending tournament champion, takes on College at Old Westbury on Saturday, November 29 at 6:00 PM.
