ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY –- Playing without rookie Hannah Cambel for the second consecutive game, The College of New Rochelle had a shortened bench, and Bard College used that plus to post a 14-0 advantage in reserve scoring. That proved to be the difference, as the Blue Angels dropped a 60-46 decision to the Raptors tonight at the Stevenson Athletic Center.
Alyssa Pechin paced the Blue Angels (5-4) with 20 points. Jah-Leah Ellis added her eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebound, adding six steals and three assists.
Tytravia Riley led all scorers, tallying game-highs with 21 points and 19 rebounds for Bard (3-3).
The Raptors raced out to a 7-0 lead over the first four-plus minutes, and led by six, 12-6, before five straight points from Ja’Nasha King brought CNR to within a single point, 12-11, with less than 10 minutes left in the first half. However, Bard responded with a 9-0 run over the next five minutes to take its largest lead of the half, 21-11, and held an eight point, 25-17, lead heading in the break.
In the second half, the Blue Angels were unable to cut into the Bard lead, never drawing closer than seven points the rest of the way.
The Blue Angels continue their road trip on Thursday, December 11, traveling to Old Westbury, NY to take on the College at Old Westbury in a non-conference game scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
