College of New Rochelle Senior Jah-Leah Ellis Claims HVIAC Player of the Week Award For Third Time

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -– For the second straight week and third time this season, the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) has selected The College of New Rochelle senior forward Jah-Leah Ellis as its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Ellis two more double-doubles last week to raise her season total to seven. In a non-conference road game at St. Joseph’s College-Long Island, she tallied game-highs with 26 points and 12 rebounds. She backed up that performance with 16 points, 17 rebounds, six steals and four assists against Albany College of Pharmacy. On the week, the forward averaged 21.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

The senior also received the award on December 2 and November 18 and currently leads NCAA Division III in rebounds per game (16.8) and is tied for second in double-doubles (7). She also has posted the top two single game rebounding performances in DIII this season, having pulled down 27 rebounds twice, a total that is tied for the most across all divisions.
