Dr James Frederick Culleton, WWII Vet, Longtime Neurologist at New Rochelle Hospital

Tuftonboro, NH — Dr. James Frederick Culleton, 96 of Chase Point Rd., Tuftonboro died Jan. 23 at Forestview Manor in Meredith, NH. 

Born April 6, 1918 in Sewickly, PA son of the late James and Jesse (Scragg) Culleton he has lived in Tuftonboro since 1983 after summering there since 1959 previously living in Pelham, NY. and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. 

Dr. Culleton served his country with the United States Army during WWII. 

He had many academic appointments, post graduate training: Resident in neurology, Neurological Institute of NY 1949-1950, Physician-Columbia University Medical Office-116st and Broadway NY 1950-1954, Associate in Neurology, Columbia University, Neurological institute of NY 1951-1983. 

Hospital Training: Assistant attending Neurologist, neurological Inst. of NY 1951-1983. Director of Neurology and EEG-New Rochelle Medical Center, New Rochelle, NY 1954-1983. Now Honorable consultant in Neurology, Roosevelt Hospital, New York City 1951-1954. Westchester County Hospital, Grasslands, Valhalla, NY, Director of Neurology 1954 now Honorary Staff. Stonylodge Sanitarium-Neurological Consultant 1960 Ossining, NY. Veterans Administration-Miami, FL and Riviera Beach, FL 1984-1995-Neurology Consultant. 

Teaching:Fellow in Neuropsychiatry – Institute of Living, Hartford, CT 1947-1948. Assoc.. in Neurology, Columbian University 1951-1983 interns and residents. Vanderbilt Clinic – intern and resident 1951-1983. Director Neurology, New Rochelle Hospital 1954-1983 intern and residents. 

Pre-Deceased by his wife Flora McDonald Stuart (Brown) Culleton in 2007 he is survived by 3 sons James F. Culleton Jr. of Sterling, VA, Lawrence S. Culleton of City Island, NY, Richard E. Culleton of Scarborough, ME, a daughter Aimee C. Stevens of Tuftonboro, NH, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
