ALBANY, NY — The New York State Police issued 1,390 tickets during the Super Bowl Sunday STOP-DWI enforcement period.
The campaign began at noon on February 1st, 2015 and continued until midnight.
During this STOP-DWI campaign, the New York State Police increased patrols and conducted sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers.
The New York State Police arrested 31 people for DWI during this 12 hour campaign.
During this campaign, the New York State Police also targeted speeding and aggressive drivers across the state.
Among the 1,390 tickets, there 408 tickets issued for speeding, 39 tickets issued for Distracted Driving (cell phones), and 55 tickets for issued for not wearing a seatbelt.
