NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Monroe College Baseball swept a doubleheader with Globe Institute of Technology.
The Mustangs took the first game 4-2. Monroe ace sophomore Alex Vargas threw six innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven and giving up a mere three hits. Sophomore Juan Arias got the save to close the game out and offensively, sophomore Hector Marmol went 1-for-2 with a two-RBI double.
In the second game, Monroe College won 9-1 to complete the sweep for the Mustangs. Sophomore Jose Peralta throw five innings, allowing one run and only one hit. John Hill threw a scoreless sixth inning to bring the Mustangs to the top spot in their division while, at bat, sophomore Guillaume Gingras went 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs. Jose Pena had an RBI double.
