NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The presents included a third camera and tripod, along with a teleprompter. Additional monitors for green-screen work and the inclusion of a third anchor, as well as an iMac, are on their way to complete the ensemble.
Street of Dreams was instrumental in the original establishment of the Gael Force studio. After several years as a post-production operation, GFL transitioned into a live broadcast studio this year with the help of Nicholas Franco ’13 and under the leadership of Executive Producer Michael Lyons ’15.
Faculty moderators Mr. Anthony Casella ’97 and Mr. Matthew Horton ’01 helped guide GFL through the transition, building the set and designing and painting the program’s logo, as well as learning the process of streaming the show live on YouTube.
Having a live studio at the Prep was always part of the vision for Street of Dreams, which continues to be a part of GFL’s evolution so that Iona Preparatory students are up-to-speed on the latest multimedia innovations. Mr. DiGioia personally extended his connections to SUNY Oswego, where he sits on the Communications Advisory Board, as well as his own production company, FORT Group, Inc., to students interested in refining their study of broadcast journalism.
Street of Dreams is an emerging charity dedicated to providing multimedia learning opportunities to students in the tristate area. The organization helps bring production programs into metropolitan schools—Iona was its seminal institution—and will soon be sponsoring scholarships to the School of Communication, Media and the Arts at Oswego.
