Blue Angels Softball Outpaced by Briarcliffe College

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Briarcliffe College swept the Blue Angels in both ends of the non-conference doubleheader played Thursday at Flowers Park.

The Bulldogs kept the pressure on the CNR defense in the first game, outscoring the Blue Angels by a 20-0 count.  Christine Quinones tallied the lone hit for the Blue Angels, as the Briarcliffe pitcher allowed just three base runners.

CNR’s best scoring chance came in the bottom of the first.  Quinones singled with one out and two straight walks loaded the bases before a double play erased the threat.

A 12-run top of the first allowed the Bulldogs to ease through the second game, before CNR tried to mount a rally in the bottom of the fifth. Sheila Conde led off the inning with a single and advanced to third with two outs before a strikeout ended the threat and the game.
