NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A person doing a welfare check on a resident of a Centre Avenue apartment near Isaac E. Young Middle School reported the person deceased. An initial police estimate was the person had been dead for two weeks.
Police reported that the 51-year old woman was found dead with a sheet pulled over the body in the same apartment where police received a report of a suicide attempt using pills in February, 2014. The death will be treated as a homocide until determined otherwise.
A neighbor who lives at 197 Centre told Talk of the Sound the woman missed a medical appointment prompting a check of the apartment. The neighbor said the woman had not been seen recently.
The call came in at 1:24 p.m.
An ambulance dispatched the scene was put back into service. The Westchester County Medical Examiner has been called to the scene.
