NEW ROCHELLE, NY – All ages are invited to be swept away by big screen adventures, when the New Rochelle Public Library presents its annual Disney Hit Parade of family films on six Monday evenings in July and August. The air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater is a perfect venue for the series of free, timeless classic films, which will begin at 6:00 pm.

This year’s series begins on Monday, July 6th with the 1956 color film, Davy Crockett and the River Pirates. All ages will want to hop on board for a rip-roaring river adventure with Davy Crockett, legendary “King of the Wild Frontier,” and his trusty companion George as they head downriver to New Orleans.  There will be dangerous rapids, treacherous river pirates, and excitement at every turn. The 81-minute film stars Fess Parker, Buddy Ebsen, and Jeff York.

On Monday, July 13th the series will continue with the 1958 version of The Sign of Zorro. A blazing sword cuts the night with the indelible sign of Zorro, introducing Walt Disney’s renowned hero championing the cause of the oppressed as the swashbuckling masked rider. The color film, which runs 91 minutes, stars Guy Williams, Henry Calvin, and Gene Sheldon.

In Search of the Castaway, released in 1962, will be the featured film on Monday, July 20th. Hayley Mills stars as fearless Mary Grant, whose only clue to her missing father—a sea captain, is a mysterious message in a bottle. One clue leads to a thousand thrills when Mary, her brother, and their fellow searchers must brave earthquakes, fire, flood, and even a giant condor on their perilous rescue mission. Starring Maurice Chevalier, Hayley Mills, and George Sanders, the color film runs 98 minutes.
