NEW YORK, NY –Evelyn Lombardi of West Nyack passed away peacefully on July 23, 2015 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born on September 27, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to Ralph and Mary Lombardi. Evelyn is survived by her spouse of 45 years, Jeanette Matthews, her brother, The Rev. Joseph Lombardi, S.J., her sister and brother-in-law JoAnne and Richard Stone, and many cousins. She will be dearly missed by scores of former students and those she touched through her many community activities.
Evelyn was deeply committed to her many roles at Grace Episcopal Church, Nyack and also served on numerous diocesan committees at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. She was a teacher for forty years, serving at Resurrection Academy High School (Rye, NY), St. Gabriel’s High School (New Rochelle, NY), Clarkstown North High School (New City, NY) and Felix Festa Middle School (West Nyack, NY).
Family and friends will honor Evelyn’s life on Saturday, August 8 at 11:00am at Grace Episcopal Church, Nyack, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joe Raso Hospice Residence (11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956) or Grace Episcopal Church (130 First Avenue, Nyack, NY 10960).
