Sean Burke Tabbed To Lead Iona Golf Program

NEW ROCHELLE, NY –Iona College Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. announced the appointment of Sean Burke as head coach of the golf program. Burke, who competed for three seasons on the University of Scranton golf team, also serves as Iona’s Assistant Athletic Director for Business.

“Sean is the perfect person to lead our golf program,” said Cole. “His knowledge and love of the game is going show in how our student-athletes approach their every swing, and will help us continue to compete at the top of the MAAC.”

“I am excited to be taking on the role of head coach to the Iona golf program,” said Burke. “I look forward to working with a great group of student-athletes, who have committed themselves both on the course and in the classroom.”

For the past five years, Burke has run demo events for TaylorMade at golf courses around the Northeast region, and spent 15 years as a caddie at both Rockland Country Club and Manhattan Woods Golf Club. Burke also serves as a junior golf instructor at Blue Hill Golf Club and Rockland Country Club.

For six years, Burke has served as the outing director for the Johnny Burke Memorial Outing, which raises money to benefit both Livestrong and Pancan. Burke is a member of the Blue Hill Golf Association and MGA.

Burke graduated from Scranton in 2003 with a bachelor’s of science in international business. In addition, he holds a masters in sports business management from Manhattanville College.
