White Plains Man Charged with Driving Under Influence of Drugs in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Patrick A. Colon-Craig was charged with Driving While Intoxicated – First Offense, a Class U Misdemeanor and Operating Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs – First Offense after New Rochelle Police responded to a report of an motor vehicle collision on Weaver Street near Nob Court at about 3:00 pm on July 28th.

According to police radio scanner traffic, the incident began in Mount Vernon. Colon-Craig was pursued by police officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department, New Rochelle Police Department and Westchester County Police Department including an aviation unit helicopter. The pursuit led from Mount Vernon, up Lincoln Avenue into New Rochelle, then onto Webster Avenue, to the Hutchison River Parkway North to Weaver Street. A resident on Nob Court called police to report that his neighbor was on vacation but the lights at the home were on and a white car was on the street.

Police observed a vehicle stuck on a rock wall on Weaver Street. There was damage to the grass and wall. Patrick A. Colon-Craig, the driver, was standing outside his vehicle and stated that he was not injured. Colon-Craig stated he was traveling south bound on Weaver Street and fell asleep.

Police observed that Colon-Craig had slurred speech and began closing his eyes on several occasions. He also began to sway when he stood and he placed his hands on his vehicle to keep his balance. A field sobriety test was done.

Colon-Craig was placed under arrest and the vehicle impounded. New Rochelle Police requested a drug recognition expert from the Westchester County Police Department.
