Lottery Larceny Leads to Back-pocket Blow Bust

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Daryl Callands, a homeless man and known drug offender, was arrested by New Rochelle Police after he was identified as the person who stole lottery tickets from the New Rochelle Prescription Center at 551 Main Street on July 31st.

Police observed Callands, a man matching the description of the suspect from the larceny, walking on North Avenue at about 11:00 p.m. on July 31st.

Callands was holding an open container of Corona Beer. Police stopped Callands and gave him an open container violation and then inquired if Callands was in possession of any illegal substances. Callands indicated he was and police found a small zip lock baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine in his rear right pocket

Callands was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor and  Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class A Misdemeanor.
