NEW ROCHELLE, NY — There has been a rash of car break-ins in the area bounded by Eastchester Road, Webster Avenue, Coligini Avenue and North Avenue, ten since June 30th.
In one case, a vicitm captured a suspect trying car doors on Hilltop Avenue and police were able to give a description of a suspect. They identified a light-skinned male with a pony tail and wearing tan pants and a light colored shirt and a light colored back pack. Talk of the Sound has requested a copy of the surveillance video. Your correspondant was among the victims.
Locations of the car break-ins include one on North Avenue, one on Clinton Avenue, two on Fern Street, 2 on Mount Joy Place, one on Clove Road, two on Hilltop Avenue, and one on Mayflower Avenue.

Surveillance Video Captures Car Thieves on Hilltop: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a past larceny at about 7:30 p.m. on Hilltop Avenue in New Rochelle on July 28th.
Complainant stated that her vehicle was broken into last night while it was parked in the street opposite her home. She said the incident occurred between the hours of 1:25 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., that the suspect took loose change from her car, that she has cameras attached to her house and has surveillance footage of the incident.
The surveillance footage which shows a suspect walking around the neighborhood testing car door handles. The suspect is observed entering the complainants driveway in order to test a car door handle but walks away after he realizes that the vehicle door is locked. The suspect then enters the complainant parked across the street and unlocked. The suspect then exits the vehicle and walks off camera.
The suspect appeared to be a light skinned male with a pony tail and wearing tan pants and a light colored shirt and a light colored back pack.
Phone Headset Stolen from Car on Hilltop Avenue: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle on Hilltop Avenue in New Rochelle on July 29th.
Complainant stated that an unknown suspect ransacked his vehicle and took $6 worth of quarters and a cell phone headset out of the vehicle. The incident occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. There was no damage to the vehicle and no other items missing.
Complainant stated that the same incident happened to his neighbors who filed a police report and the suspects were caught on camera.
Sunglasses Stolen from Car on Mount Joy Place: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle on Mount Joy Place in New Rochelle on July 28th.
Complainant stated that she last parked her vehicle in her driveway at about midnight on July 28th and when she returned the vehicle at 11:00 a.m. later that day she found the car had been ransacked. Sunglasses and $18.00 in cash were missing from the vehicle.
iPod Stolen from Car on Mount Joy Place: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle on Mount Joy Place in New Rochelle on July 28th.
Complainant stated that he last parked his vehicle at 5:00 p.m. on July 27th and when he returned to the vehicle at 11:00 a.m. the following the day he found the car had been ransacked. An iPod and $5.00 of loose change was missing.
Sunglasses Stolen from Car on Clove Road: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a larceny from a two motor vehicles at the same address on Clove Road in New Rochelle on July 28th.
Complainant stated that he and his wife last parked their vehicles at 7:30 p.m. on July 27th and when they returned to the vehicles at 9:00 a.m. the following the day they found the car had been ransacked. Missing from his car was $2.75 of loose change was missing. Missing from her car was a pair of sunglasses.
Car Stolen from Mount Joy Place: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a larceny to a motor vehicle near the intersection of Mount Joy Place and Coligini Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. on July 27th.
Complainant stated she parked her vehicle on Mount Joy Place around 6:00 p.m. and when she returned at 10:00 p.m. her vehicle was gone. No suspects at this time.
