WHITE PLAINS, NY –County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that Westchester County is once again teaming up with The Sharing Shelf of Family Services of Westchester and other nonprofit agencies and businesses to collect and distribute school supplies for children in need.

“Since launching our backpack partnership, we have helped give vital school supplies to thousands of children in Westchester County,” said Astorino. “As always, our goal is to help as many children as we can again this year.”

The program is a collaboration between The Sharing Shelf of Family Services of Westchester and the county’s Department of Social Services, but there are many businesses that have opened their doors and will serve as drop-sites for donations. Please see the list below for the location nearest you.

“It’s wonderful to see the community step forward to make such a positive difference in the lives of local children,” said Deborah Blatt, of The Sharing Shelf.

Susan B. Wayne, president and chief executive officer of Family Services of Westchester, said: “We are so proud to be working with County Executive Astorino, The Sharing Shelf and so many other community partners toward this shared goal. The importance of providing children with the supplies they need to start the school year ready to learn cannot be overstated.”
