NEW ROCHELLE, NY –The Monroe College Men’s soccer team opened the 2015 season this week on the heels of a number three ranking in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Pre-season poll, which was released on Monday August 10. The Mustangs return a stock of their players from their 2014 National Championship finalist team.
The Mustangs, led by head coach, Marcus DiBernardo, posted a 13-4-1 record a season ago and advanced to the NJCAA National Championship game. The Mustangs return twelve players from last year’s squad,including All-American Khadim Seye (Bronx, N.Y.), Mamadou Balde (Queens, NY), Pedro Neto (Sao Paolo, Brazil), Kalifa Sylla (Bronx, N.Y.) Lucas Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and Kenneth Caballero (Bronx, N.Y.).
The Mustangs opens the exhibition season on Saturday, August 15 against Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. Monroe starts the regular season at home on Saturday, September 5, against Burlington Community College. Monroe will also face three ranked opponents that were in the NSCAA Pre-season poll. The first match will be at Eastern Florida State College (4) on Aug. 29, then the team will travel to Louisburg College (6) in Louisburg, North Caolina for a match on August 30. The third ranked opponent is the Community College of Baltimore County-Essex (11). The game will be played at home on October. 10.
