William & Mary Bests Volleyball In Three Sets

NEW YORK, NY –The Iona College volleyball team fell in three sets to William & Mary in its final contest at the 2015 Black Knight Invitational hosted by Army West Point. Rookie OH Amanda Gannon was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance during the Gaels three matches at Christl Arena.

Gannon posted a team-high eight kills against the Tribe Saturday, hitting .269 with five digs and a block. Rookie OH Claire Archibald added six kills and eight digs while freshman MB Mia Bonsignore had five kills in the loss. Junior MB Karly White posted an Iona season-high seven blocks including two solo and five assisted. Senior setter Natalie Ziskin had 15 assists and six digs for the Maroon & Gold. Freshman libero Jessica Paolucci had eight digs.

William & Mary was led by 10 kills and a .409 hitting percentage from Dessi Koleva. Setters Katie Kemp, Austin Ames and Gabrielle Pe combined for 38 assists and libero Sarah Zumbach had 18 digs in the win.

The Gaels open MAAC play Wednesday evening at Rider before heading to Austin, TX for three matches vs. Santa Clara, UTSA and Colorado State at the Texas Classic next weekend.
