Women’s Cross Country Places Fifth at Queensboro Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College women’s cross country team ran at the Queensboro Invitational on Sunday.  The team placed fifth overall as four runners posted new personal-best times.

Leading the way for the Mustangs was Olivia Allen.  The Brooklyn native ran her fastest ever with a time of 24:48.  After that, a new personal best was set by Ashley Stewart, who broke the tape in 25:50.  Two other personal bests came from Aliyah Matta of Newburgh, New York (26:42) and Ernestine Conteh from Ewing, New Jersey (27:26).  Three other Monroe runners competed in the race as Tamirah Thompson crossed the line in a time of 28:45, while Tonija Spencer clocked a 28:49 for her fun.  Finally, Saleen Matta posted a 31:18 mark.

The Monroe College women’s cross country team returns to action on Saturday, September 26, when they compete in the Osprey Open in New Jersey.
