Volleyball Takes Two, Now 3-0 in League Play

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Women’s Volleyball team hit the double-digit plateau in wins Saturday as they defeated both Pratt Institute and Davis College in HVIAC league action.  CNR swept both conference opponents by 3-0 margins to improve to 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the league. In game one CN made it quick downing Pratt 25-12, 25-12, and 25-17.  In the second game for the Blue Angels they handled Davis 25-12, 25-13, 25-13.

In the first contest, CNR was led by sophomore Fabiola Padilla Rios (San Juan, PR) who was the lone player to amass double-digits in kills with 11. She added eight aces.  Junior Melanie Ann Lopez Soto (Gurabo, PR) tallied 25 assists in the match, while junior Indigo Flowers (San Francisco, CA) added 13 helpers.  Junior Tiany Diaz Perez (Juncos, PR) recorded 15 digs on defense for CNR. 

Against Davis, sophomore Tamara Beckford (Bronx, NY) led the way with seven kills.  Padilla Rios finished with seven more aces, for a total of 15 on the day. Sophomore Rosa Angeles (Yonkers, NY) finished with eight digs.

CNR has now won seven straight and is now 8-0 at home.  The Blue Angels will host Purchase College on Tuesday night at 7pm at the Wellness Center which will conclude the long homestand.  CNR will be on the road for the next five contests.
