NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle District 5 City Council candidate Jeffrey Hastie failed to establish an official campaign committee when he began soliciting campaign donations this summer and failed to file campaign contributions and expenditure information for the general election by the October 2, 2015 deadline, according to a statement issued Friday by Barry Fertel’s campaign committee.
“Campaign finance disclosure requirements are not mere technicalities; they are essential to the openness and transparency of government,” said Council Member Barry Fertel.
Reached for comment on Monday, Hastie acknowledged his campaign had missed the deadline and was taking steps to file this week.
“We made a mistake,” said Hastie. “We now have our paperwork in order and will file tomorrow, after the Columbus Day holiday.”
Hastie added that his campaign will post further information on the campaign Facebook page.
