Youngest Club Director Receives National Recognition For Outstanding Contributions

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — William Iannuzzi, ofNew Rochelle, N.Y.,has been named aMaytag Dependable Leader Award winner for his demonstrated dedication to keeping youth on the path to achieve great futures. The award recognizes Boys & Girls Club officials who are committed to making a difference as dependable and exceptional role models. William was nominated for the award by Lindsey Coviello, Administrative Assistant of Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.

Through a national partnership, Maytag brand and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) selected William as one of 11winners nationwide to receive this year’s distinction, which includes a $20,000 financial grant for theBoys &Girls Clubs ofNew Rochelle.Specifically, the Club will use the grant to provide four Club members each with a $5,000 scholarship for post-secondary education opportunities. 

For nearly two decades, Iannuzzi has played various important roles at the Club. At 18, Iannuzzi became a staff member after having volunteered for several years. Now, at 22, Iannuzzi has become the youngest Club Director ever. Not only does Iannuzzimanage over 150 Club members daily, he is also currently working toward a master’s degree in accounting. 

“I have known Will since he started at the Club when he was six years old. He grew up at this Club, and it was there for him when he didn’t know where to go,” saidCoviello. “Now as an adult, Will hasbeena remarkably positive employee for Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, serving as a reliable and responsible role model for youth in our community.”

Iannuzzialso goes above and beyond by dedicating his free time and weekends to take members on trips and special events. For example, Iannuzzi out of the goodness of his heart took a couple Club members he mentors to New Rochelle’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as well as to a WWE wrestling match; both of which the members loved.

In addition, Iannuzzi recognizes the benefitsof making suremembers receive the best resources possible and has even implemented new programs to encourage positive behavior. One programIannuzzi created is a Club-wide Awards Ceremonythat honors members who have made a positive impact in the Club throughout the school year. 

“Will understands the importance of, and need for, places and spaces for kids to interact with positive, caring adults and be given opportunities to learn, explore and succeed in a safe environment”, continued Coviello. “He has brought new energy and excitement to our programs, our kids, and our overall mission.”
