CNR Drops Close Contest to Notre Dame (MD)

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Swim Team traveled to Maryland to take on the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators. In a narrowly contested meet, the Gators picked up a 50-36 victory against the Blue Angels.  CNR falls to 0-3 on the season.

CNR was led by senior Claudia Benitez (White Plains, NY) who picked up three, 2nd place finishes in the Individual Medley, 200 breast stoke and 100 breast stroke.

The CNR freestyle relay of Allison Gurney, Fabiola Padilla Rios (San Juan, PR), Angela Avalos (Albany, NY), and Amanda Malone (Island Park, NY) picked up a victory in the last event of the day, coming from behind to narrowly edge out the Gators with a time of 2:05.72 versus the hosts 2:08.00.

The Blue Angels return to action Saturday in their first home meet of the season when they host Notre Dame and John Jay College at 2:00pm.
