Trinity Tops CNR in Tournament Opener

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Women’s Basketball team fell to Trinity College (CT) in the opening game of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Basketball Tournament held at Medgar Evers College on Saturday afternoon.  After coming out of halftime down by only 9 points, CNR was outscored 44-19 in the second half which resulted in an 80-46 loss.  CNR now sits at 2-6 on the season while Trinity remains unbeaten at 3-0.

Mackenzie Griffin proved to be too much for the Blue Angels to handle as she pumped in a game-high 27 points to go with 13 boards.  The Blue Angels were led by senior Jasmine Brandon (Jersey City, NJ) who tallied 15 points, while freshmen Amirror Dixon (New Rochelle, NY) notched 11 points.  CNR was out muscled on the boards 38-23 and turned the ball over more (20-14).

CNR will play Medgar Evers tomorrow in the consolation game at 1:00pm.  The Cougars were victims of an 82-45 loss to Eastern Nazarene.
