NEW ROCHELLE, NY — John D. Murray, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on December 8, 2015. He was 82.
Mr. Murray was born on March 18, 1933 in New Rochelle to the late John R. and Margaret (Doyle) Murray. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion in Pelham and of the Echo Bay Yacht Club for over thirty years. He worked as an Account Executive at Equitable Life for many years.
He is survived by three sons, James Murray and his wife Jane, Edward Murray and John Murray; and two grandchildren, Tara and Daniel Murray and his sister-in-law Dorothy Knapp.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Carol Knapp, whom passed away on October 2, 2008.
Visiting will be Thursday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday 10:30am at Holy Family Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
