Woman Dragged from Vehicle and Beaten: New Rochelle Police responded to a report about a woman who allegedly attempted to leave the scene of a car accident. Police said when they arrived at 4 a.m. Nov. 23 on Sickles Avenue, they found a woman standing next to a vehicle with injuries to her face and wrist and blood-stained clothes. The woman told police she had been assaulted and hit a parked car when she attempted to flee the alleged attackers. Officers said in their report that the woman seemed to be confused about what had occurred and appeared to be intoxicated. Police administered field sobriety tests. EMTs treated the woman and told police that her injuries were the result of being punched and kicked in the head, according to the police report. Police interviewed one of the men who the complainant said attacked her, and the man, who said he didn’t know the complainant, said the woman hit his wife’s parked vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. He told police he believed the woman was injured during the crash. The victim, however, told police four individuals, including two women, allegedly broke her windshield and windows with a metal pole. The metal pole was later found hidden behind a fence and contained glass fibers. She said two woman also dragged her from her vehicle and began punching and kicking her head and body. The man’s wife told police the woman drove her car in to her driveway and hit her vehicle. After hearing the crash, she and other witnesses told police they went outside and removed the driver from the vehicle because she tried to leave the scene. The victim was transported to Montefiore New Rochelle hospital by ambulance and was later discharged.

Laptop Missing from Monroe College Dormitory: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a stolen laptop Nov. 20 from a dorm room at Monroe College, 370 Main St. The complainant said he was sleeping in his room with his laptop on his bed while his roommates and their two friends were in the room. When he woke up around 4 p.m., he said his laptop was missing. He told police he believed his roommates or their friends had taken the computer.

Man Arrested for Violating Order of Protection: A New Rochelle man was arrested Nov. 19 at his Charles Street apartment for violating an Order of Protection. The complainant told police that the man, Raul Gonzalez, who is the father of her child, entered the house through a second-floor bathroom window after she refused to let him in through the front door. She told police she had an argument with him. The woman showed police an Order of Protection which expires in September of 2016. Gonzalez allegedly ran out the back door when the woman called police for help. Police located Gonzalez at his father’s home hiding inside of a closet. He told police that the house where his girlfriend lives belongs to his mother and he was there to retrieve his phone. He was taken into custody and charged with violating an Order of Protection.

Cell Phone Stolen from New Rochelle School: A New Rochelle woman told police that her cell phone was allegedly stolen Nov. 19 while she was attending class. The woman told police she left her cell phone on her desk at approximately 12:30 p.m. and walked to the chalk board. When she returned 10 minutes later, she realized her phone was missing, she told police. Although she did not see anyone take her phone, she told police she noticed someone acting suspicious near her desk before and after the incident.

Man Arrested for Shoplifting: Police arrested a man Nov. 19 for allegedly stealing items from Home Depot. The complainant, an Asset Protection specialist at the store, told police that the suspect removed a price tag from a pair of gloves and left the store with them. The complainant told police he approached the man, brought him to the Asset Protection Office and called police who arrested the man. Bail was set at $250.

Woman Becomes Victim of Identity Theft: New Rochelle Police are investigating a case of identity theft. The complainant told police that an unknown person opened two credit card accounts in her name Nov. 8 and charged $1,795. The victim told police Nov. 19 that she became aware of the incident when she received credit card statements from a TJ Maxx and Kohl’s at her previous address on Sickles Avenue. The accounts were opened in Plaistow, N.H., she told police. She said she notified both retail stores about the fraudulent accounts.

Man Becomes Victim of Identity Theft: Complainant Ira Teplar told New Rochelle Police that an unknown person created an Intuit Quick Books account in his name and wrote a $2,500 check made out to Teplar Bakery Deli. Police said in their report that the money was not deducted from Teplar’s personal account. Teplar told police that Intuit Quick Books advised him to report the incident so they could investigate the matter.

Home Burglarized: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a home invasion Nov. 21 on North Avenue. The complainant told police someone had rummaged through items on the first floor of her mother’s home. Police found an open window on the first floor and a window on the porch slightly ajar, according to the police report. Police noted that several rooms had been ransacked but did not say what items, if any, were stolen.

Thieves Steal Valuables from Vehicle: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle Nov. 19. According to the police report, thieves allegedly broke in to a vehicle parked in a lot on Division Street and stole items worth more than $7,000. The owner of the vehicle said she parked her car near the Division Street entrance of the lot at 5:40 p.m. Nov. 18 and when she returned at approximately 8:40 a.m. Nov. 19, found several items missing, including a scanner, a bag of tools and an ashtray, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash. The complainant told police she had left the doors unlocked. Police are reviewing surveillance footage of the area to see if the incident was recorded.

Man Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated: Jorge Valencia Conde was arrested Nov. 22 in New Rochelle for allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to a police report. Jorge was charged with aggravated DWI, first-offense DWI, operating a motor vehicle without a license and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or above.
